Description
Most trips that go wrong were decided wrong at the kitchen table: nobody said what the day was for, nobody owned the access check, and the meeting time lived in two places.
The Guided Trip Brief is a printed workshop pack. Put it on the table with whoever helps you run the trip, set a timer, and work through it in order. It ends on one page that sends every decision and every action to the place it will actually get done.
What is in it
- A cover with the agenda, what to bring, and a note legend that survives a photocopy (write I, R, D or A on every note).
- How to run it: the opening question, what to do when the talk drifts into predicting fish, and three ground rules.
- Eight worksheets, one per step: this party and this trip; a useful day, in one sentence with three signs you could observe; what we are doing, with every claim labelled observed, sourced, assumed or unresolved; what we are leaving out and must not promise; evidence and open checks, each with its source, when it was checked, an owner and a recheck trigger; equipment and the alternative if the first plan fails; people and handoffs; and what gets rechecked when the count, time or conditions change.
- Page 99: Decisions & actions. Every decision gets an owner and a place it is recorded; every action gets a verb, an owner, a due date and a destination.
- A fictional worked example, Trip DEMO-01, including a mid-session change of party size and meeting time.
Format
One PDF, 12 Letter pages, laid out for a home printer. The writing spaces fill the page. Print a fresh pack for each trip.
What it will not do
It never produces a catch promise or a safe-to-go verdict, and it cannot confirm access, rules or conditions: a check records that someone looked, and where.
Where it leads
The decisions from page 99 go straight into Guide Trip & Client Handoff, which turns them into the client brief and your private run sheet. Three more workshops, The Client Journey, After the Water and The Operator Handoff Map, come with the Outfitter Suite.
